Unvarnished Jesus: A Lenten JourneyMuestra

Wednesday, March 27
John 10:1–21
Jesus and the Good Shepherd
Who are the false shepherds, the thieves and robbers who come only to steal, kill, and destroy? They are the false messiahs. False messiahs like Judas bar Hezekiah and his band of robbers. Or Athonges the Shepherd, a revolutionary who killed many Romans and Herodians, but fled when his followers were being killed. Or Simon of Peraea, an escaped slave who destroyed Herod’s palace in Jericho. These false messiahs came only to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and the true Messiah who brings not theft, death, and destruction, but abundant life. Listen for the peaceable voice of the Good Shepherd and follow him. Jesus is the true Messiah who leads His flock into abundant life.
