SleeplessMuestra
What fills your heart?
I had gone to bed restless again, thoughts crowding my mind, and I wondered if I should take something to fall asleep right away. I decided against it and actually fell asleep…
However, I quickly woke up, and before I could think, "Here we go again," Bible verses started flowing through my mind! And not only that, wonderful ideas and even divine wisdom started coming to me! But before I could even write these thoughts down, I'd already fallen asleep again.
This process actually repeated itself several times. And each time, my soul felt satisfied when I woke up, and I could fall asleep again immediately. There was no room left for the worries that usually robbed me of sleep!
"'...Your words show what is in your heart.'" (Luke 6:45, CEV) I think it's also true that "Your thoughts in the night show you what is in your heart."
You probably know the verse, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." (Proverbs 4:23, NIV). Other translations say, "guard your thoughts" or "guard your mind." I'm sure you know as well as I do how true that is! This scripture doesn't just say, "Your thoughts affect your daily routine." No, they affect your whole life. Day and night!
So what was the big change that caused me to feel satisfied and fulfilled? Why was my heart filled with Bible verses and calming thoughts at night?
I believe it was because I was much more engaged with God and His Word during the day, certainly through writing texts for A Miracle Every Day but also through constant mental decisions to put God before my worries and negative speaking. I was choosing to live better, more purely.
Yes, our daytime choices have a big impact on our nights!
Would you like to do this, too? Open your Bible during short breaks more often than going straight to social media, for example. Do you want to choose to live better…that is, according to His will?
I'm smiling right now because I just know that this will make a BIG difference in your life! :-)
You are a miracle!
