Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 9Muestra

584 BC Nebuchadnezzar’s army exiles more Jews and in Babylon he demands worship, putting three Jews into a furnace for disobedience. When no harm results, he honors their God. God tells Ezekiel he will give Egypt to Babylon for the latter’s routing of Tyre. God is judging all nations. He will lay waste to Edom (Mt. Seir), deliver Israel from her enemies and eventually rebuild her.
Note 1 (Jeremiah 52:30): This last deportation in 584 BC was of Hebrew people left behind after previous deportations. This extreme depopulation was their punishment for years of sin.
Note 2 (Ezekiel 35:10–15): As is happening today, the descendants of Esau are expecting to inherit the ‘two lands’ of Israel but God plans punishment.
