iHunger: A Closer Walk with GodMuestra

Winning The Battle Called Temptation
Temptation is all around us. We all have been and will continue to be tempted- it is inevitable because to be tempted is to be ‘drawn away of our own lust and enticed.’ Temptation is not a sin but we must die daily so that it does not lead to sin. God, in His omnipotence, has given us the power to overcome every temptation, but we must arm ourselves for the battle.
Three things are true and unchanging about temptation 1. You are NOT the first or the last person to encounter "it." Even Jesus was specifically led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted (Matt 4:1). 2. You can handle it! We are not tempted by anything that is not common to man. 3. I Corinthians 10:13 assures us that there is always at least one way out!
Think about the last time you sinned - whether "big or small," gossip or greed, selfishness or sex. Now, take some time to think of all the many ways you could have avoided it. *inserts pause* Now, guess what? You have no excuse the next time around. Retrain your appetite!
Today’s Prayer God, in moments of temptation help me to remember that there is a way out. Help me to remember that You are always there. I want to please you, so God, if you hold me up I know I wont let you down. Amen.
