Life is unpredictable in many ways. There are days when we feel we cannot take the change that comes. One of the hardest changes to face is the absence caused by the unexpected death of a loved one. People desire the opportunity to express their love and have closure before someone dies. When the death is unplanned, the path you thought your life was taking with that person is drastically altered. Sometimes, it is extremely hard to find a way to regain a new direction that feels safe. Through suffering the loss of four miscarriages, my soul ached for a reason why I could not hold my children and spend time with them. It was very easy to become angry and forget what God had promised me. I blamed my husband and could not find any joy in the direction my life was heading. The abrupt change left me doubting God’s plan for me. I turned to my own understanding instead of relying on God’s word. It didn’t work. I fell into depression and frequently faced horrible anxiety attacks. I realized I had to face the change in my life through God’s word and prayer. Spending quite moments with God allowed me to heal through his mercy and grace. The pain of the change was still there, but it did not control my life like it had previously; God’s love comforted my spirit. I stopped trying to rationalize why my children had to go to Heaven before me, and I began trusting God loved me and knew what was best for me. Accepting the change of my plans did not happen overnight, but like everything in life, with God’s unwavering love, He gave me the strength to live life abundantly and find joy where I thought there would never be joy again.
