It's not known if the "chosen lady" is a church or a specific woman. John writes to remind us that the people who love God will be obedient to His commands. Love is always connected with actions. It's not uncommon for people to claim to love God and then live like they don't care about His commands. These things don't go together. Our behavior should match our words.
