Deeper Waters: Trusting God When It Doesn’t Make SenseSample

Reading: Luke 5:1-11
Devotional:
Sometimes God asks us to do things that defy reason. Like Jesus telling experienced fishermen to cast their nets again after a night of failure, He calls us to trust Him beyond what we can see or understand.
Obedience is rarely convenient, but it’s always rewarding. When Peter said, “Because You say so, I will,” he moved from frustration to overflow. Your miracle might be waiting on the other side of obedience.
Reflect on areas where God might be asking you to trust Him despite your doubts or past disappointments. Remember, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways” (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust You when it doesn’t make sense. Strengthen my faith when logic fails. Teach me to obey Your voice even when I can’t see the outcome. Like Peter, may I say, “Because You say so, I will.” In Jesus’ name, amen.
Application:
Identify one “net” (a task, risk, or act of obedience) that you’ve avoided because it seemed pointless. Step out in faith this week and do it.

About this Plan

Faith doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes God asks us to cast our nets where we’ve already failed, to obey when it seems impossible, or to let go of what we love most. This 5-day devotional invites you to trust God when logic runs out, obey when it’s costly, and follow Jesus wherever He leads. Based on key moments of surrender from Scripture, Deeper Waters will challenge you to trust His Word, walk in obedience, and live on mission with confidence that His ways are higher than ours.
