Go and Tell: Sharing Your TestimonySample

Go and Tell: Sharing Jesus’s Work in Your Life
We live in an age of sharing. We post about what we’re eating, where we’re traveling, what we’re celebrating—sometimes even what we’re struggling with. But when it comes to sharing our faith, many of us hesitate.
Research shows that just over 50% of Christians believe they have a personal responsibility to share their faith, and an even smaller percentage actually do. Maybe for good reason! We worry about being awkward, offensive, or unprepared. Maybe we assume someone else will do it better. Or maybe we wonder if it’s even right to“force” our beliefs on others.
But the heart of witness isn’t persuasion but invitation to participation. It’s not about having perfect words; it’s about pointing to a perfect Savior. It’s also more similar to sharing about all the other things we find important in our lives than we may think. Sharing what Jesus has done in our lives isn’t just for “extroverted evangelists.” It’s for anyone who’s been changed by grace.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus meets ordinary and broken people who can’t help but tell others about what he’s done for them.
This short study on discovering and sharing our testimonies focuses on two of those stories:
- A man who was freed from spiritual darkness and told to go home and share what God had done for him.
- A woman who met Jesus in her brokenness and shame, then ran to tell her entire town.
Both of these stories remind us that we don’t share our faith because we have all the answers. We share because we’ve met the One who is the answer. Through reading these scriptures, we hope you’ll consider what you have to share about how Jesus has changed your story, and think of one or two people to tell about it.
