Breathing Room

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1–When Life Feels Full

Life can so easily become overwhelming. Our schedules fill up, our minds race, and our hearts grow weary. Somewhere between deadlines, responsibilities, and expectations, we lose the stillness our souls were made for. But God invites us to something different: breathing room. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Breathing room isn’t the absence of activity; it’s the presence of peace. Jesus offers this peace when He says, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Rest, in His terms, isn’t simply sleep—it’s trust. It’s learning to rely on His strength rather than our own.

When life feels full, the invitation is not to do more but to return to the One who fills us. Making room for silence, prayer, and Sabbath reminds us that we are human beings, not human doings. In the space where we slow down, we can finally hear God’s voice again. That’s where real life begins to breathe.

Questions to Reflect On

  1. Where in your life do you most need to create breathing room right now?
  2. How can you make space this week to be still in God’s presence?
  3. Deeper Question: When life feels overcrowded, how might God be inviting you to trade activity for intimacy with Him?
