Watching Against Offense In Prayer II
We learned in our previous study that offense weakens the effectiveness of the believer's prayer life. In Peter's admonition to married men, he taught them to go beyond the cultural construct of their time in how they relate with their wives. They are to esteem and relate with their wives in the light of God's word regarding the common spiritual heritage and position they equally share in Christ; “...there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28). Marriage only defines roles and does not discriminate against any gender. Violation of this fundamental truth breeds offence in relationship thus hindering prayer.
However, we can see clearly from God's word that offense in the believer's relationship can hinder their prayer. Now, this doesn't mean God would refuse to answer prayer because of conflict, it only means that offence will prevent agreement of the warring couples on a matter in prayer.
Sadly, some couples actually stop praying together due to offense. This is how Satan has succeeded in weakening many Christians' marriages spiritually.
Offence of any form can hinder prayer. This is the reason the Believers are admonished to confess their faults to one another (not to God) for their prayer to prevail over their circumstance (James 5:16).
Sound code:
Dear Father, I refuse to walk in offense, but in love and oneness.
