GO IN OBEDIENCE

Nazareth wasn’t exactly the kind of place you would expect heaven to visit. It was small, unimportant…people probably joked, Can anything good come from Nazareth?! Yet that’s exactly where God sent his angel Gabriel to give a teenage girl news that would change the world.

It’s easy for us to see how good this news was—we’re looking at things through the rearview mirror! But for Mary, there was a ton of unknown. Everything was about to change; any plans she had for a normal life were gone. Gabriel’s words surely left her spinning. She was afraid. She had questions. She didn’t even get a full explanation—just a promise. Her response? “May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38 NIV).

It was just yes. Simple obedience from a willing heart.

Mary’s “yes” was costly. It could have meant losing her fiancé, her reputation, her safety—yet she believed that God’s word was greater than her worries. Her obedience made room for a miracle that would change eternity. The same Spirit that once hovered over creation now overshadowed Mary…God’s presence filled an ordinary life to accomplish His extraordinary plan.

God still works through willing hearts. Obedience doesn’t always make sense in the moment, but your “yes” can be the key for God to move through your life. Like Mary, choose trust over understanding. When you go in obedience, God can use your “yes” to do a miracle.
