The Pursuit - 12 WeeksSample

Proverbs 2 begins with a challenge and a promise. Solomon urges, “Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and search for it as you would for silver” (Proverbs 2:2–4). In other words, wisdom isn’t something you stumble upon—it’s something you pursue.
This is what spiritual disciplines are all about: intentional pursuit. Reading the Bible and praying aren’t just religious habits—they’re the way we dig deep for the treasures of God’s wisdom. When we approach Scripture casually, we might pick up a few surface truths. But when we approach it like a miner searching for gold, with persistence and hunger, we begin to uncover life-changing insight.
The pattern follows in verse 5: “Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.” That’s the goal—not just knowing more about God, but actually knowing Him. The disciplines of prayer and Bible study work together to move us from information to transformation. Through His Word, God reveals His truth. Through prayer, He writes that truth on our hearts.
Don’t settle for surface faith. Dig deep this week. Open your Bible, pray for understanding, and seek wisdom like the treasure it is. You’ll discover that God is not hiding from you—He’s waiting to be found.
Reflection:
What’s one way you can be more intentional this week about “searching for wisdom” through focused time in God’s Word and prayer?
