Waiting for (Christ)masSample

Waiting for (Christ)mas

DAY 4 OF 10

There are two kinds of waiting…

There are two ways to wait: actively or passively.

When we were waiting for our son to be born, we waited actively. We prepared ourselves and the house, shopped for supplies and baby clothes, read up on delivery, set up the crib and made arrangements at the hospital.

But when I wait for a bus, it’s passive – usually scrolling through my phone or listening to some music – basically just passing time. I have to do nothing to prepare for the bus’s arrival.

Which type of waiting do you think the Bible refers to when it says:

We wait in hope for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in His holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in You.
– Psalms 33:20-22 NIV

If you guessed active, you guessed right! 👏🏽

Waiting on the Lord is like preparing for a special guest: constantly checking the window while also making sure that the house is in great shape and everything is ready for their arrival.

In the same way we prepare our house, we can prepare our hearts. Great preparation comes with great planning.

Today, let’s make a plan together so that in this busy season, we don’t forget to be intentional about waiting on the Lord and preparing our hearts. Your plan could be fixing your quiet time or setting reminders to pray.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
