Great Is Your Faithfulness

DAY 4 OF 30

Faithful to Defend

With the growing rate of technology, and the benefits such developments provide to us through it, comes a snowball effect of criminal activity. Despite our efforts to combat it, sometimes the wrong person gets a hold of your personal data and the ripple effect can be terrifying.

In the early 2000s, my husband and I were scheduled to begin a revival meeting, which meant we would be ministering in the same church, same town, for several days and services consecutively. God began to move mightily and, before we knew it, four weeks had gone by and He still wasn't finished! People were being delivered from drug addictions, paraphernalia was strewn across the altars each night, and prodigals were coming back to Jesus. The church kept filling up each night with hungry believers and curious seekers. And gratefully, the host church kept opening its doors and their hearts for God to have His way.

We were away from home more than normal during that series of, what eventually became, six weeks of perpetual revival ministry. Our trusted neighbors would stop by our home throughout the week, pick up the mail, and water a few plants for us. But the enemy wasn't exactly delighted with what God was doing through the extended revival meeting and decided to throw a curveball our way in an attempt to distract and shake us.

Distraction was undoubtedly accomplished when we discovered that someone in the post office had gotten a hold of a new credit card that was delivered to our post office box. Within a matter of a few days, a balance to the tune of $20,000 was growing on that credit card and no one could seem to track it down. Naturally, we shut the card down, but the balance remained, looming over us to pay when the credit card company refused to believe crime was involved.

What the enemy underestimated was that we were not shaken but motivated to intercede in the Spirit. We asked the Lord for wisdom, divine favor, and for the right people to step up and defend our case. Multiple letters were exchanged, hours on end spent on the phone with the creditors, only to continue to be turned away for real help. We loaded up our letters to the creditors with legal jargon and contended for our own innocence, only to be denied. The situation was growing desperate.

Finally, we relented and shared the saga with my parents who recommended a lawyer friend of theirs to look over the case and advise us. In an almost unbelievable, incomprehensibly short few days, after months of wrestling with this mess, the Lord turned that entire situation around and we received a letter of total discharge from the debt! God defended our case and sent someone to close out the grueling series of correspondence in our stead!

How do you need God to faithfully defend you?

How do you need God to faithfully defend you? We are often tempted in our own humanity to defend ourselves and play the world's game of revenge. But God has proven throughout all of time that His Holy Spirit is the Great Defender. He faithfully comes to the rescue and defends His own, when we are faithful to trust Him to do it.

"Lord, thank You for rescuing me when I need it; for defending my name when others would seek to drag it through the mud or deceive others to believe something about me that is not true. Your faithfulness to defend me takes the pressure off my own shoulders and brings Truth to the light every time. May I follow You in faithfulness to defend justice and truth in my life today."

Dig a Little Deeper

What do you need God to solve today? Is there an actual legal situation in which you need favor? Has your character been slandered on the job? Are accusations looming over your head? Trust God to faithfully defend you. Purify your heart before Him and trust His divine timing.
