The Passion

DAY 30 OF 57

How often do you think about when Jesus will return? It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by the worries of our day-to-day lives, look at the hardship and suffering around us, and lose sight of what is waiting for us.

Jesus uses some beautiful imagery in this passage to describe what that glorious day will look like when He returns. I think each image emphasises and reminds us of an aspect of Jesus and His character, as well as our own. The “glorious throne” reminds us that He is a sovereign ruler, worthy of our praise and worship. The sheep and goat imagery reminds us that followers of Christ (the sheep) are those who will inherit the kingdom and are still under His care. He is our shepherd and we are His sheep. It reveals the beautiful reality that God is equally powerful and equally loving. And, He has prepared a kingdom for us that He has been longing to bring us into from the beginning of the world! What an incredible, incomprehensible gift.

Today, ponder this: How can you live in the light of eternity today? What things can you hold tighter to, and what things can you let go of, remembering what will be truly important on that glorious day?

About this Plan

The Passion

Journey along through Matthew chapters 21 - 28, tracing Jesus’ final days from His entry into Jerusalem to His resurrection. Each devotion unpacks the urgency, sacrifice, and triumph of Christ’s mission, revealing the depth of God’s love and the cost of redemption. Reflect on the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the cross, and the empty tomb whilst encountering Jesus in His suffering and ultimate glory. Whether preparing for Easter or seeking a fresh perspective, The Passion seeks to stir hearts to know Jesus and make Jesus known with hope, boldness, and passion.
