DAY 7 OF 10

True Spirituality

Everywhere we look, people are searching for something deeper. Crystals, horoscopes, tarot cards, and manifestation—these practices are rising in popularity because people are hungry for meaning, healing, and peace.

We are living in a deeply spiritual age. Many are no longer satisfied with material success or shallow answers. They want to feel grounded, aligned, and whole. On the surface, this hunger is good; it shows that people know life is more than flesh and blood. But the challenge is this: spiritual hunger does not always lead to spiritual truth.

Around us is a buffet of spiritual options, each promising peace, clarity, or connection. But most of them leave people carrying the weight on their own. They say, “Manifest your destiny, heal your energy, find your own truth.” It sounds empowering, but it is exhausting. At best, it gives temporary comfort. At worst, it leaves people bound and even more disillusioned.

The Bible shows us that spirituality without Christ is not neutral. It is not just “another path” to the same God. Some practices are deceptive, even harmful. As 1 John 4:1 teaches, believers are urged not to believe every spirit but to test them to see whether they are from God (NIV). The world may talk about light and love, but without Jesus—the true light—it is only a shadow.

Jesus offers what the world cannot. In John 14:27, he tells his disciples that he gives them peace, not as the world gives (NIV). Real spirituality is not about what we can create or attract, but about receiving what Christ has already won for us. His Spirit does not just give temporary relief; he brings lasting freedom, truth, and peace.

So when we look at the rise of crystals, mystics, or psychics, we don’t need to deny the hunger they reveal; we just need to point to the one who truly satisfies. Only Jesus can meet the deepest needs of the human soul.

This week, reflect on where you seek peace and clarity. Ask yourself: Am I looking to substitutes, or am I going to Jesus, the true source?

About this Plan

Table Talk

Jesus shows up at the table — in the middle of real conversations, doubts, and everyday moments. When we slow down, share a meal, and open our hearts, God can bring healing, clarity, and fresh perspective. Let’s make our tables places of connection and hope, where faith feels alive and everyone has a seat.
