HONOURING GOD WITH OUR WORDS

Have you ever thought about how your words reveal what's really in your heart and how they can impact the people around you? A holy heart is not silent; it speaks. But it speaks with kindness, honesty and honour. And what it speaks does matter deeply, because your words reveal the state of your heart. "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers" (Ephesians 4:29). Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34).

When your heart is surrendered to God, your words will reflect His holiness, marked by truth, grace and love.

God invites you to sound different, even when everyone else is laughing at bad jokes, gossiping, slandering, or speaking harshly. Holiness in speech is not just about avoiding bad language; it is about choosing words that are sacred. Your words can either build or destroy someone. It can heal or wound someone. Just think about the times someone said something that really impacted your life! "Death and life are in the power of the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21).

Jesus said we will give an account for every careless word. This warning is not to scare us; it is to encourage us to watch over what we say. What we say matters because our speech reveals what is really hidden in our hearts. To truly live a holy life, you must invite God to purify not only your words, but also the motives in your heart.

When you allow the Holy Spirit to fill your heart and mind and thoughts, the way you speak will change. Your words will impact others in an amazing way, healing their hearts and encouraging them. A holy heart loves to praise God, to encourage others, to speak the truth in love and bless those who curse us and are our enemies. To live holy is to live a supernatural life! And all of this flows from time in God's Word and a life surrendered to His Spirit.

PRAYER

Lord, purify my speech. Let every word I say honour You and reflect Your love. Forgive me for careless or hurtful words. I pray for my mouth to be a vessel of grace and truth. Fill my heart so my words flow from Your holiness.
