Day 25: Perspective—Peaks and Valleys

Life is filled with highs and lows, and we often find ourselves standing on a mountain top one moment, only to plunge into a valley the next. It’s remarkable how we can experience both extremes in a single season, month, or even day. The good news is that God reigns over both our highs and our lows.

In 1 Kings 20:28, we learn about a group called the Arameans who believed that God ruled only over the hills. While people often view hills as pleasant spots with a better vantage point, God emphasizes that He is sovereign over both hills and valleys. Thankfully, not only is God over both, but as He says in Isaiah 40:4-5, He can absolutely reverse any type of terrain. He can raise up the valleys, bring the mountains low, and even smooth out rough places.

While these examples I reference are physical features that manifest on earth, they also serve as metaphors for the different kinds of experiences we can have in our lives. God can transform our most isolated challenges into something beneficial, or turn our most unpleasant places in life into areas where we can flourish and thrive.
