Find Hope in God's Unfailing LoveSample

If You Want To Be Kind, Open Your Eyes
“Look out for the good of others.” 1 Corinthians 10:24 (NCV)
Kindness always begins with your eyes—the way you observe the world and are sensitive to the needs of other people.
In Luke 10:33, it says of the Good Samaritan, “When he saw [the man’s condition], his heart was filled with pity” (GNT). Notice that “he saw.” That is the starting point. If you want to learn to be a kinder person, you’ve got to change the way you look at the world.
Hurry is the death of kindness. If you’re going to learn to be a kinder person, you’ve got to slow down! When you’re always distracted with other things, you don’t have time to be kind.
The first step to kindness is to ask God to give you a spiritual radar so you can be on the lookout for people who are hurting emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Maybe you were born with this gift. You automatically sense when people around you are in need. If that doesn’t describe you, then you’re like me. It’s easy to get distracted, be task-focused, and not see the needs of people around you.
But if you care, you’ll be aware. It’s not always easy to see the needs of other people, especially when you’re busy with your own life. But it’s the starting point of kindness.

About this Plan

God wanted you alive just so he could love you! The Bible repeatedly tells us that God is love—not that he has love; he is love. It is his nature, his character. In this 30-day reading plan, you’ll learn more about God’s love for you and how you can love him and others with his help. You’ll discover that the only reason there is any love in the universe is because your Creator is a God of love. And the only reason you are capable of giving and receiving love is because God made you in his image.
