DAY SIX— Shared Leadership
Earlier, Moses had been overwhelmed trying to carry the responsibilities of leading Israel alone. With Jethro’s counsel, Moses appointed capable leaders as chiefs over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.
This was more than just good management—it was a spiritual principle. God never intended His work to rest on one person’s shoulders. Healthy leadership is shared, and God distributes wisdom, responsibility, and authority among His people.
In the church today, this principle still applies. We are the body of Christ, each with different gifts, called to serve together. When leadership is shared, burdens are lighter and God’s people flourish.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- What gifts has God given you to serve and share leadership in your community?
- How can you support your leaders so they don’t carry the weight alone?

About this Plan

THE PROMISED LAND and Milk and Honey Productions have created this plan to help individuals and groups engage the story of Exodus and Leviticus in a fresh way. In this 30-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect Israel’s journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
