One True God: A Devotional From Influence MusicSample

Song: "In Agreement"
Artist: Melody Altavilla
“I plead the power of the blood, stand on the word that overcomes. If you declare it, it is done. I’m in agreement.”
One of the most incredible things about the Christian life is that, as children of God, we can recognize His voice (John 10:27). The God who spoke galaxies into existence speaks to us. And as if that weren’t enough, He’s given us Scripture—pages filled with His revelation and promises.
When life hands us trials, hard decisions, and moments of uncertainty, these are the anchors we cling to: His voice and His promises.
But there’s a third key that often gets overlooked—a key to stepping fully into God’s will for our lives. It’s the power of agreement.
Faith is a central theme in Scripture, but sometimes it can feel abstract. Have you ever thought about it this way? Faith is simply agreeing with God. To agree with God means we yield to what He has spoken, take Him at His Word, and partner our faith with His promises.
The foundation of the Christian life begins in agreement—we agree with God that Jesus Christ is His only Son and that through Him we have eternal life. And from that starting point, we’re invited to keep agreeing with Him—both with His written Word (logos) and His spoken word (rhema).
I experienced the power of this in a deeply personal way in 2021. I was set to get married in September—date locked in, deposits paid, plans in motion. But two weeks before the big day, my father—already battling cancer—contracted COVID, leaving him hospitalized and fighting for his life. The doctors gently told me to prepare for the worst.
But years earlier, the Lord had spoken through a prophet that my father would walk me down the aisle one day. At the time, I thought it meant overcoming cancer. Two weeks before my wedding, I realized why God had given me that word. I clung to it with everything I had.
My mom and I circled the hospital declaring life. We paced the empty chapel, praying in the Spirit. And even in uncertainty, I thanked God in advance for a miracle.
In a turn of events only God could orchestrate, my father was healed enough to walk me down the aisle. The aisle was shortened, and he carried an oxygen tank—but it was perfect. God had kept His word.
That’s why we wrote “In Agreement”—to give language to the promises you already have in Christ. My prayer is that you not only sing them, but believe them, receive them, and stand on them.
Reflection:
As you listen to the song “In Agreement,” ask the Holy Spirit to highlight a lyric to you. Is there a specific promise God is inviting you to agree with today? In Jesus’ name.
