Lessons From Christ’s Final WeekSample

The Last Supper
Jesus and His closest disciples gather to share a final meal together the night before His death, the eve of the Passover feast. They would later come to see that this feast was pointing to Him. Christ was the Passover Lamb who would shed His blood for them and all mankind, even when betrayed and abandoned in His greatest hour of need, pleading with the Father for His life in the Garden of Gethsemane. And how does He choose to spend these final moments with them? He takes off His outer garment, kneels down, and washes their feet, showing again His true nature as a humble servant. The greatest, most worthy One among them, among us, knelt down to the lowest place to give of Himself for our benefit. He invites us to go and do likewise in honor of our Lord.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your example of selfless humility and service. Help me to love and serve others as You have loved me. I ask for grace to live in daily communion with you. Today, I renew my commitment to You. Amen.
