Start Dreaming Again: From Valley to Vision

DAY 1 OF 30

Dream

“With God’s help we will do mighty things...” Psalm 108:13 NLT

Moving forward in God means one step in front of another. Always forward, always focused. But in today’s culture it’s easy to get distracted and lose that focus and forward movement. We slosh around in the barrage of social media, news streams and Netflix, compounded by the battle of keeping the house clean or commuting to work or prepping for a Zoom meeting.

Remember when you used to dream? To imagine what could be? Thoughts sketched out on a napkin or brainstormed with a friend… But if you’re honest with yourself, you’d have to admit that if you’re even moving towards that dream, it’s a slow crawl at best.

You’ve lost your focus, lost your purpose, maybe even lost your hope for the dream.

Perhaps it’s weariness. You grew tired, stopped to rest, and just never got moving again. Perhaps you lost your support—your friend or cheerleader—and you haven’t had the heart to rally yourself. Maybe you’re just plain old surrounded by too many naysayers. And now you’ve lost your zeal for the vision of greatness you once held close to your soul.

Whatever the reason, life without a dream is not the way God has called you to live. God has called you to live a big life. A life of anticipation and expectation. A life of undertaking something beyond yourself while trusting God and his power within you to bring your impossible dream into reality.

I’ve heard it said that if your dream is something you can accomplish on your own, then it’s not God. He is the God who can do more than you can ask or imagine, beyond the wildest thing you might even dare to hope for.

If you’ve lost your forward momentum, check your dream gauge. Clear the distractions, pick up your hope, and imagine what could be. Attach your faith to the vision and start dreaming again. With God’s help, you can do mighty things.

Pray:God, help me to keep moving forward. Help me to dream again! I commit my dream into your hands, and I believe that with your help all things are possible. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Seek: What has gotten in the way of your dream? How can you rekindle your zeal to keep your forward movement? Write down a next step here.

Speak: With God’s help, I will do mighty things!
