DAY 2 OF 15

GENESIS 38

Now the protagonist shifts from Joseph to his brother Judah. It might seem out of place, but we can draw something precious from this detail. Even though Joseph didn’t see or know what was happening with his brother, God was already at work, enacting His justice. Judah was the one who suggested selling Joseph, and that didn’t go unnoticed by the Lord—He made sure to show His sovereignty and power over the brothers’ story. Even though Joseph didn’t defend himself, God defended him.

But here’s an important point: God doesn’t choose whom or how to love based on our rights or wrongs—every thing is about His plans for us. We see this later on when, in Bethlehem, a Descendant is born—the Lion of the tribe of Judah: Jesus! He is the One who came to save, redeem, and restore the story not only of Jacob's “wicked son” but of all of us.

LET US PRAY:

God is doing things that we cannot see—and that we may never see! The truth is that we don't need to! We can trust that we have a good, very good Father who cares for every little detail in our hearts. There is a great plan of God for the world, and even so, God's affections and eyes are on you. Place a hand on your heart and ask God to fill you with the awareness of His attention on your life, and that this will fill you with confidence in Him during these coming days.
