A Disciple's JourneySample

Following Jesus Means Serving Others
In Mark 9:35, Jesus tells the disciples, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” This is so counterintuitive to how we tend to think. Our culture gives us permission and even encourages us to focus on ourselves, to take care of ourselves, to treat ourselves, to take pictures and tell stories about ourselves. But Jesus tells us that to be first, we need to make ourselves last, put ourselves at the end of the line, and serve instead of being served.

About this Plan

Before going on a difficult journey, you need to have a plan. You also need to find people headed to the same destination, so you can encourage each other, train together, and prepare for what lies ahead. That is what A Disciple’s Journey is designed to provide. Each week, you will follow along with the apostle Peter in his journey of discipleship. With each step of his journey, we can find resonances with our own and wisdom for how to navigate the Christian life.
