Purposed to ParentSample

Day 1: Saved & Called
Focus: Jesus doesn’t wait for your doubts to disappear before He draws near. He meets you in the middle of them and still calls you to follow Him.
Cultural Connection: We live in a culture where uncertainty makes you feel unqualified. But with Jesus, your doubts don’t disqualify you; they’re the very places He meets you and proves He’s trustworthy.
Devotional:
As parents, we often wonder if we’re doing enough or if we’re enough for our kids. Like Nathanael asking, “Can anything good come from this?” (John 1:46), we wrestle with questions that expose our doubts.
But when Jesus saw Nathanael under the fig tree, He saw more than his location. He saw his honesty, his questions, and his potential, and He called him anyway.
Parenting doesn’t require perfection; it requires presence. Jesus didn’t choose Philip and Nathanael because they had all the answers, but because they were willing to follow. The same is true for you: Jesus sees your doubts as a parent, and still calls you — fully known and fully chosen.
Reflection Questions:
- Where do you feel unseen or uncertain in your parenting journey?
- How does knowing Jesus sees and chooses you to parent your kids impact how you lead your family?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for seeing me fully and loving me completely. Help me trust that You’ve chosen me to parent these kids — not by mistake, but with purpose. Remind me that I don’t need to be perfect to be used by You. Amen.
Family Connection:
Tonight at dinner or bedtime, ask: “Do you know that Jesus sees you and chooses you just like He chose His disciples?” Share a moment when you felt uncertain but trusted Jesus anyway. Let them see that faith isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting the One who does.

About this Plan

In a world obsessed with image, influence, and perfection, parenting can feel like a daily test you barely pass. But Jesus sees you, knows you, and still chooses you. This four-day devotional guides you through four powerful encounters with Jesus, as found in the Gospel of John. You’ll discover how Jesus meets you in your doubts, speaks to your identity, uses your story, and sends you with purpose right where you are, with the family He has given you. You don't need to be perfect — just present.
