30 Days With the PsalmsSample

A song of praise
“O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens” (Psalm 8:1 ESV).
Today’s Psalm bursts out in a song of praise about God’s majesty and glory. Our Lord is great, both on earth and in the heavens!
David looks at the heavens, the moon and the stars. God set them in place, which clearly demonstrates how great He is. In comparison, we are but tiny little people. Nevertheless, God “crowned [us] with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5 ESV) and put us in charge of everything He made.
David marvels at the Lord and at the special position He gave to us humans. He can’t understand this. He just bursts out in praise once more: “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:9 ESV).
When you think about God’s greatness as reflected in creation, and about His special care for us humans, do you join David in his song? Is your heart filled with joy and reverence for the Lord God?
