24 Days to Reflect on God's Heart for RedemptionSample

Transform lives around you with your gifts from God
For all the days the Lord allows me to live, I plan to pursue the vision of God’s heart to take what was intended for harm and turn it into good for the poorest of poor, for many of the 151 million orphans and vulnerable children in the world today, for the least of these in our global village, to the forgotten, the abused, the abandoned, and neglected children in our world. Since 1879, the ministry of Buckner has sought to do this work by serving the least of these among us.
I invite you to give of yourself in order to directly transform lives around you. You could consider the gift of your story, your time, the gift of your talent, the gift of your treasure, or the gift of family.
Every person who has come to faith in Jesus has a story to tell. Before Jesus found you, you were an orphan, held in the space of dominion for evil. You were alone in a depraved world with no one to care for you. But then, you came to faith in Jesus and everything changed. When you realize just how much you’ve been forgiven, would you not, in turn, have much to give?
Look at Jeremiah 33:1-3 and consider asking the Lord to show you how he wants to use you. We are saved to serve; redeemed for a purpose; and bought with a price. We don’t belong to ourselves and must not live to ourselves.
Reflection questions:
- How does your story of redemption connect with God’s redemptive work in history?
- God has created each one of us for a purpose and with a design to serve him. How would you envision serving to reach the least of these?
- What would the Lord lead you, your group, your church, your church network to do in response to the needs of vulnerable children and orphans around the world?
- What might you attempt to do for vulnerable children and orphans that would be an expression of your story of redemption?

About this Plan

As Christians, we have the opportunity to reconcile conviction with compassion and serve others with truth and love. As agents of redemption, we have to remember we have been redeemed to redeem the world. See redemption throughout the Bible and how it can remind us of the role each of us has to play in the daily work of redemption.
