Rebuilt Faith

DAY 6 OF 30

Day 6: The Example of Christ

Jesus summed up His mission with these words: “For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). At the heart of discipleship is the call to serve. Service is not an optional add-on for the spiritually elite; it is the way we grow closer to Christ and become more like Him.

Our culture sends us mixed messages about service. On the one hand, we applaud public servants, athletes serving in the community, and students completing service hours. On the other hand, most people would rather be served than serve. Even in our churches, a small percentage often carries the load while many remain on the sidelines.

To serve like Christ is to adopt His character: humility, compassion, and self-giving love. We discover that true greatness is not found in power or position but in pouring ourselves out for others. Service is not beneath us; it is the very way Jesus draws us into His likeness.

Questions

  • How do you usually view service: as an obligation, a burden, or a privilege?
  • Where is Christ inviting you to follow His example of self-giving love?

About this Plan

Rebuilt Faith

Rebuilt Faith will help you take daily steps to grow as a disciple of Christ. Inspired by the book by Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran, this plan invites you to reflect on who Jesus is and why He is worth following. Through the STEPS of discipleship—Serve, Tithe and Give, Engage, Practice, and Share—you’ll discover practical ways to live your faith: serving others, trusting God’s provision, building authentic community, deepening prayer, and sharing the Gospel. Each devotional is designed to draw you closer to Christ and inspire you to take your next step in faith.
