What’s cool about generosity is that it isn’t a concept that’s separate from our faith. In fact, generosity is at the very core of our faith! Out of God’s great and generous love for us, He sent Jesus, His Son, to Earth. Here, Jesus lived as we live, felt as we feel, and suffered as we suffer. In fact, He suffered so much more than we ever will because of His death on the cross. When Jesus died for our sins, He took the weight of all our wrongs and made them right. And when He came back to life three days later, He made it possible for us to spend eternity with God once again. Thanks to God’s great generosity toward us, we never have to wonder if we’re loved, accepted, or known by God. Jesus made that possible once and for all! So, when we give to others out of what we have, we’re doing so much more than just making a simple gift. Our giving is a reflection of God’s generosity—we give freely because He has already given everything to us.
Our call to generosity is really a call to respond and reflect to others all God has generously given us. And that’s a pretty cool way to see it!

About this Plan

The truth is, no matter who you are, you have something to give in service to others. The problem? Those are often the things we tend to close our hands around the tightest. But what if that wasn’t the way life was meant to be lived? This devotional is going to talk about what an open-handed life really looks like, lived out—because generosity is about so much more than giving something away.
