When Life Feels Broken: A 5-Day Devotional on JoelSample

Have you ever felt that your past defines your future? It is easy to believe our mistakes change God’s love for us. However, in Joel, we see God’s heart for His people, even in their sin.
God doesn’t leave His people in hopelessness. After Joel calls them to repent, God promises to restore what has been lost. The crops, the land, even the years destroyed by locusts — He says He will redeem it. But He doesn’t stop there. God makes an incredible promise that one day He will pour out His Spirit on all people — young and old, men and women, rich and poor. That promise was fulfilled in Acts 2 at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came and filled believers.
For us, that means no matter who you are or what you’ve done, God offers His Spirit to live inside you to strengthen, encourage, and guide you. Trust God to redeem parts of your life that feel wasted, confident He doesn’t waste anything.
Christ Connection
At Pentecost, Acts 2:16-21, the promise of God’s Spirit being poured out was fulfilled through Jesus. In this passage, we see God make a way to live among His people.
Ask
Where do I need to trust God’s power to restore and renew?
Pray
Lord, thank You that You are the God who restores. You don’t waste anything, not even the seasons of my life that feel broken or lost. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can walk in Your strength and not my own. Give me faith to believe that You can bring healing, renewal, and hope where I feel empty. Thank You for making Your Spirit available to me because of Jesus. Teach me to depend on Him daily and live with joy and boldness.
Try This
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you an opportunity to trust Him today and walk in obedience.
