Why I BelieveSample

No. 2A - I believe because of the incomparable life, works, and behaviour of Jesus, the Son of God
It is not really possible to describe Jesus. The closest I can come is to say that He is incomparable. I encourage you to read the book "The Incomparable Christ" by J. Oswald Sanders.
Here are some quotes from well-known Christians who have attempted to describe Jesus:
- John Stott (1921–2011) – Theologian, Writer: "The person and work of Christ are absolutely unique. There is nobody else remotely like Him."
- Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892) – Pastor, Author: "Christ is the sum and substance of the gospel; take Christ from the gospel, and you have nothing left."
- A.W. Tozer (1897–1963) – Pastor, Author: "Christ is not one of many ways to God; He is the only way. Christ is not one of many truths; He is the only truth. Christ is not one of many lives; He is the only life."
- Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 296–373) – Church Father, Bishop: "He became what we are so that He might make us what He is."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906–1945) – Pastor, Theologian, Martyr: "Jesus Christ is the centre of human existence and history. To ignore Him is to ignore the meaning of life."
- John Calvin (1509–1564) – Reformer: "We see that our whole salvation and all its parts are comprehended in Christ. We should therefore take care not to derive the least portion of it from anywhere else."
- Blaise Pascal (1623–1662) – Scientist, Christian Apologist: "Not only do we know God through Jesus Christ alone, but we only know ourselves through Jesus Christ."
- C.S. Lewis (1898–1963) – Scholar, Writer, Christian Apologist: "Christ is either a liar, a lunatic, or He is Lord. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great moral teacher."
- John Owen (1616–1683) – Puritan Theologian: "Christ is in all things the most excellent, and in comparison with Him, all else is worthless."
- Richard Baxter (1615–1691) – Puritan Pastor: "Christ is the very essence of all delights and pleasures; nothing else in heaven or earth can satisfy fully, but He alone."
- Watchman Nee (1903–1972) – Chinese Church Leader, Teacher: "The Christian experience, from start to finish, is a journey of learning Christ."
- Billy Graham (1918–2018) – Evangelist, Preacher, Author: "There is no other name in all of history that can bring forgiveness, peace with God, and eternal life—only Jesus Christ."
About this Plan

Sooner or later, someone will ask you: Why do you believe? Many people do not have a clear answer for themselves on why they believe. This reading plan will help you write down your own testimony of why you believe.
