Carpe Mentality: 12 Days to Seizing Your Best Life in ChristSample

Mindset: Choosing to Think Positive with a Never-Give-Up Mentality
What mindset do you have?
It is very clear in God’s word that in order to defend against spiritual battles, we need to wear the full armor of God. Our faith is our shield; our helmet is our firm knowledge of our salvation in Christ, and the word of God is our sword that is used to fight back. Ephesians 6:13 through 17 says, “Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all take up the shield of faith which will be able to extinguish all flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.”
Though I am not a veteran—I never served in the military—I am a veteran of spiritual battles, as I have fought them countless times. I know that battlefield quite well. The book of Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Believe me, these battles are going on all around us. They are not just a matter of life and death; they are matters of eternity. We humans live for only a short while, but after life on Earth is over, eternity waits for everyone. This is why there is a spiritual battle going on in the first place. It is to prevent as many people as possible from going to be with God for eternity and to stop you from living out your fullest potential in this life.
To conquer these battles, you must have a winner's mindset that invades your every thought. If you have a tendency to get down on yourself, it is time to say enough is enough. Stop tearing yourself down. Build yourself up by thinking correctly about who you really are. You are amazing. You are one of a kind. There is no one else on this planet just like you. There is no one who has ever existed who is like you. You have been created perfectly as you are. You are blessed and perfectly designed; you must believe you are. Do not allow outside forces to dictate how you think. Regardless of any current storm or life situation, step up to the plate and knock the ball out of the park. It is time for you to hit a grand slam. This grand slam is your winning mindset.
Mindset is the last authentic habit in my list for a reason. Hopefully, you have learned in this devotion how to start cultivating the authentic you. There are many practical tools in this devotion to start chiseling away at the true you. You must apply all of these authentic habits to your life one by one. The order in which you do this is not fixed. It depends on your season in life. However, I designed these habits for you to start with the first authentic habit, Foundation, and move all the way through the finishing touches to in the end achieve your authentic Mindset. Each one of these habits functions as a tool in discovering your authentic self. Another way to look at it, your mindset is the icing on the cake or the cherry on top. It is the final step that leads you to the Promised Land.
If you have not mastered all of these authentic habits, now is the time. At the end of the day, your mindset should be your driving force—what carries you all the way through to the end. It is something you will have to work on daily.
To be a positive person is not by chance or DNA trait. We choose to be positive or not. Choosing to be a positive person is choosing to be a titan for your success in life. Being positive is a form of intelligence. Choose to be intelligent today. Think highly of yourself. Think highly of those around you. Think highly of your circumstances.
You might find it challenging to apply everything that you have learned in this devotion. I expect that. Not everything will be the best fit for you and your life. Take what you want from these authentic habits and apply them to yourself. Be diligent to maintain that you are as strong as you say you are. Acquire the mindset that knows you will accomplish anything you want to. Anything. Never give up on yourself. Make the choice to give up, and you will not get very far in life.
However, if you choose to put in the work, be diligent in applying these authentic habits, and never give up on yourself, you will undoubtedly go far. And always be a winner. Maintain a firm mindset to know that there are no obstacles so difficult that you cannot overcome them. Accomplish what you set out to. God has given you many gifts. Use them. Know that your victory is inevitable because you will never give up. Do not let anyone or anything tell you otherwise. Maintain a strong winner’s mindset until the end. Be an unstoppable force that will never quit on yourself.
