7 Ways to Grow Your Marriage: Husband EditionSample

Day 6: Invite the Lord into your marriage through prayer.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 reminds us, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” This verse beautifully illustrates the power of unity, especially when God is the third strand in a marriage. Inviting the Lord into your marriage through prayer is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen your bond.
But here’s a fresh perspective to consider: what if you connected with God not just in prayer—but in His creation?
Romans 1:20 tells us, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…” When we step outside into the beauty of nature, we aren’t just seeing a landscape; we’re encountering the fingerprints of our Creator. The warmth of the sun, the rhythm of the breeze, the songs of birds—all are reminders of God's presence and artistry.
Jesus Himself often withdrew to nature to pray (Luke 5:16, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”), setting an example for how creation can be a sanctuary for communion with God.
So here’s an idea: make a prayer list together as a couple. Then step outside and take a walk. As you stroll, pray through your list, praise God for His creation, and listen for His voice together. Let nature draw your hearts closer to Him, and to each other.
Today’s One Thing Challenge: Take a “prayer walk” together!
