Focus of the Day: Wise words grow from a heart that’s been listening to God.
Words have power. They can build up or tear down, heal or harm, plant courage or sow fear. The Proverbs 31 woman understands this, and she chooses her words with care.
Her wisdom isn’t just intelligence or clever thinking; it’s rooted in God’s truth. She speaks with purpose, not to impress but to invest. The people in her life know that when she speaks, her words will carry weight. She doesn’t need to be loud or forceful, because her heart is anchored in God.
We’ve all experienced moments when someone’s words left a mark. The times of encouragement that came at just the right time, or the gentle challenge that helped us grow. We’ve also felt the sting of careless words that linger far longer than they should. The Proverbs 31 woman chooses to be the kind of voice that builds, strengthens, and restores.
This doesn’t happen by accident. Wise words are the result of a heart that listens before it speaks, a mind shaped by God’s truth, and a spirit willing to be led by the Holy Spirit in every conversation.
In a culture where quick opinions and impulsive comments are the norm, her example invites us to slow down and ask: Will my words point someone toward God? Will they bring life, hope, or clarity?
When our speech is rooted in God’s wisdom, our words become tools to strengthen relationships, renew hope, and reflect His heart to the world.
Reflection question:
Who in your life could use a word of encouragement or wisdom from you today? How can you prepare your heart to speak it?
Prayer:
Lord, let my words be marked by kindness, truth, and wisdom. Help me to listen first, speak second, and allow my speech to reflect Your heart. Amen.
