01 - LORD'S PRAYER: Meditations by W. Phillip KellerSample

03 – Lord´s prayer - The Lord’s Demands
We begin with what we may call “the Lord’s Demands,” that is, the first part of the prayer:
“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven". (Matthew 6.9,10 - KJV)
Millions of men and women have repeated these words without any clear idea of what God’s will actually is. Even more serious, many recite them without truly desiring God’s will to be done—even though they know what it is.
Too often we speak the words without grasping their seriousness. And yet, God’s will—and its practice—remains the most important activity in every age and in every place.
To do God’s will, we must first know it. His will is vast, encompassing the entire universe—from the mathematical precision of the great star systems in infinite space to the immeasurable forces within the heart of a single atom.
The supreme demonstration of God’s will, however, was the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, revealed also in His family—the fellowship of believers that forms the invisible Church.
In the beginning, God’s will found its highest fulfillment in the creation of humankind, made for perfect fellowship with Him. But that fellowship was broken by human will in disobedience to the Creator.
It was then, by the will of God, that His Son took on human form and came to live among us—to reconcile us back to Him.

About this Plan

Our proposal is to share some reflections on the “Lord’s Prayer,” surely the most well-known passage in the entire Bible. It has been sung in verse and prose, recited as poetry, prayed and chanted across many religions—yet perhaps not always fully understood. For this journey, we draw inspiration from an older book by South African pastor Dr. Weldon Phillip Keller. And here I am, Edilaney Gonçalves, writing to you from Brazil!
