Words of Life: An Enduring LegacySample

Fear to faith – Whatever you do.
There are moments when, in reading Scripture, we see Christian discipleship summed up in a nutshell, and in these verses from Paul’s Letter to the Colossian Church, we observe one of those moments. If you want a brief, simple, but comprehensive explanation of how to live for Jesus, just follow these words.
But for each of us, there is a specific task assigned as part of that discipleship. For some of us, it is office work, manufacturing, or teaching. It may be working in the arts or house-building, but whatever it is, it is of deep interest to God. He desires that we do what we do, recognising that we are doing it in his sight and for his purposes, despite how insignificant it may seem to us.
How we speak, how we work, how we react to difficulty is an enduring witness to the Saviour, and we are called to do it all in his name and for his sake. Our aim and goal should be that we do the very best in every aspect, so that he, not we, receives glory. We are not working or speaking for our own reputation, but to uphold a much higher one. And when we do it in this way, we are assured of the pleasure and smile of God upon us.
We stand on the cusp of a New Year with all its possibilities and the opportunity to resolve that whatever we do, whether in word or deed, we do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

About this Plan

We all benefit from the ministries of those who have come before us. The prophets, disciples and New Testament followers of Jesus help us to understand who God is, what Jesus did and how our lives can be changed. In this series of Words of Life, we look at the legacy we have received and the legacy we will pass on to those who follow us.
