Samson was God’s chosen leader of Israel. He was blessed with supernatural strength to free his people from their oppressors. But Samson ended up chained. Samson had sinned time and time again, causing him to lose his strength and be captured. He ended up bound by the very people he was meant to drive out. Samson had failed. We can find ourselves in a similar position to Samson. We know what God’s purpose for us is, and yet we run from it. We know what we are supposed to do, and yet we do the opposite. We know what we are supposed to go against, and yet we ally ourselves with it. Simply, God has called us to something, and we have said no.
So, what do you do when you find yourself in this situation? What do you do when you are bound by your own sin and failure? You pray. You ask for God to unleash you. You ask for His forgiveness and His strength because God is the God who redeems. No matter what the mistake, God can redeem it. Samson is not enacting vengeance for what the Philistines had done to him; he is redeeming the purpose that God has for his life. God is the God who unleashes. He unleashes us from what binds us, He unleashes redemption in us, and He unleashes His strength through us.
How do you respond to failure? What do you need God to release you from? What do you need God to redeem in your life? Bring the answers to these questions to God, spend time in prayer, and ask for His strength and guidance.
