God Says I Am: Embracing Peace & Walking in PowerSample

God says I am … completely known.
Getting to know someone new is a process. You start by finding out the basics about them—their name, where they work, what they like to do for fun.
Over time, you begin to uncover more about them—gradually exploring the landscape of who they are.
Slowly, the blurry lines come into focus, and eventually, you see the full picture. You feel like you really know them.
Do you ever think of getting to know yourself this way? Since we’re inseparably connected to our bodies and minds, we may think that we’ve discovered everything we could possibly need about who we are and how we operate.
The truth is, there’s more to your identity than you could ever understand, and there’s only one person who can hold up the mirror and reveal it.
That person is God. He knows both your earthly life and your eternal purpose—who you are today and who you’re becoming in Him. He knows the full spectrum of you, even the parts you don’t know about yourself or the aspects you are still discovering.
Psalm 139:15–16 offers powerful imagery to illustrate this. Psalm 139:16 (NIV) reads, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be”. You are fully, completely known. Every part of you, each day of your life.
Ephesians 1:4 (NIV) adds to this: “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight”.
Before you ever set foot on this earth, God knew who you were—and who you would become. As you explore your identity, you’ll uncover sharp stones that need to be cast aside and beautiful ones that simply need refining. With each step, you get closer to the core—the true identity God placed within you from the very beginning.
Dear Lord,
I invite You to speak into me today. Reveal something new about who I am in You, and show me how to live that out this week.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
