Hero Worship

DAY 5 OF 5

Jesus Prayed

Memorize: This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

Focus Daily: “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: ‘In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, “Grant me justice against my adversary.”

For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.” Luke 18:1-8 NIV

Focus Questions: Jesus taught His disciples to be diligent in prayer. How is Jesus encouraging us to approach God? How do you feel about it? Is this an easy or difficult instruction from our hero?

Practice Daily: What is the life issue that has been with you the longest? Maybe it is one on which you have given up. It could be a burden for yourself, your health, finances, or a broken relationship. Revisit this in your prayer time today. Is it something you need to uphold and submit to God and His timing for a greater length of time? Be aware it could be weeks, months, or even years. Write it down below.

Journal Daily: (Write at least three sentences per day.)

About this Plan

Hero Worship

Ultimately, we become like the thing or person we worship. In Hero Worship, we observe the practices that imitate the rhythms in life we see in Jesus' earthly ministry. As we do, we know Him more, love Him more, trust Him, obey Him with joyful hearts, and grow to love others like He does.
