Being Courageous for the Lord: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)

DAY 5 OF 5

You can be brave and still feel afraid. Being brave and courageous doesn't mean you're not scared at all. It just means that you still do that thing God has called you to do. God will strengthen you.

An example of this is in Matthew 4:10-20 (NIV): "As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting nets into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow Me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed Him.

It would have been really difficult to just get up and leave everything, but the Lord strengthened the disciples. When you feel afraid, look to the Lord. Through Christ, you can do all things.

Reflection:

Is there something God is calling you to do? What is it and how are you feeling about it?

Getting out of our comfort zones and doing something we haven't done before, even if we feel nervous, can help us learn to follow God bravely. What is something you can do that is out of your comfort zone?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You that I am Fearless. I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action:

Paint Philippians 4:13 on a canvas and post it in your room to be reminded that Jesus makes you strong and fearless!

About this Plan

Being Courageous for the Lord: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)

We will face trouble in this world like Paul, Barnabus, and Jesus did, but we can still be courageous for the Lord like they were. These devotions will help girls have courage too, knowing that Jesus has overcome the world! These devotions are based on the "I am Fearless" chapter from "I am Yours: Prayers For God's Girl" by Wynter Pitts. Each devotion has a short teaching, reflection question(s), prayer, and action step. On their own or with a parent, girls can enjoy connecting with the Lord and growing in their faith a day at a time!
