How to Hear from God Every Day
Have you ever wished you could just text God and ask Him what to do? Like, "God, should I try out for this team?" or "How do I deal with this friendship drama?" Life can feel confusing sometimes, and it’s easy to feel stuck. But here’s the good news—God is speaking. He gave us the Bible, not just as an old book of rules, but as a guide to help us figure out life. The Bible is God’s Word, it’s how He speaks to us. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” That means God's Word is like a flashlight, showing us where to step next.
But let’s be real—sometimes reading the Bible can feel overwhelming, confusing, or even boring. So how do you make it personal? How do you actually connect with God through Scripture?
Here’s a simple way to make it real:
1. The Prep: Before you even open your Bible, take a second to pray. It doesn’t have to be fancy. Just say, “God, help me hear from You today.” Inviting God into that moment changes everything. It opens your heart to actually listen.
2. The Scripture: Pick a short section of Scripture and read it slowly. Don’t rush it. Imagine God is speaking directly to you—because He is. Sometimes, reading less and thinking more helps the words stick.
3. The Observations: What grabs your attention? Is there a verse that stands out, a word that challenges you, or something that makes you think about your own life? Maybe it comforts you, or maybe it pushes you to change.
4. The Application: Talk to God about it. What’s one thing you can do today because of what you read? Maybe it's encouraging someone, apologizing for something, or trusting God with something you're stressed about.
Response: God’s Word isn’t just for Sundays or when you feel like it. It’s for every day, and it’s meant to guide your steps. So the next time you open your Bible, take a moment to ask, read, reflect, and respond. You might be surprised at how clearly God speaks when you really listen.
