Stop Saying “Should”
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” —Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
“Should” is a tiny word with really heavy luggage. You should feel better. You should be past this. You should have a cleaner house, a stronger faith, better boundaries, and matching socks.
Honestly, you can “should” yourself straight into a spiritual spiral—and still not feel free.
But Galatians 5:1 says you’ve been set free.
Not bossed around.
Not micromanaged by your inner guilt gremlin.
Free.
Christ’s voice doesn’t come with finger-wagging. He doesn’t sigh in disappointment when you cancel plans or eat cereal for dinner.
He doesn’t speak in shame. He speaks in love.
And Romans 8:1 is still true, even when you’ve skipped your quiet time and your coffee went cold again:
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
Here’s your permission slip:
- Drop the “should.”
- You don’t need it.
- What you need is grace. And it’s already yours.
You’re allowed to grow at your pace. To heal at your depth. To take naps without apologizing. You are fully loved—exactly as you are, not as you should be.
Breath Prayer:
I release shame and choose the freedom You already gave me. Even if I still have laundry on the couch.
