What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do

DAY 3 OF 3

Later on in the story, we see that Jehoshaphat received a word from God through a prophet: “Do not be afraid… the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15). At this point, nothing had changed physically, but something had happened in his heart. Even though nothing changed immediately, the promise of God gave the people hope and direction.

Many times, when we pray, God gives us a promise before we see anything change in the physical. Like a check that hasn’t been cashed yet, His word guarantees what is coming. Our role is to trust and move forward in faith.

Jehoshaphat’s people were told, “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord” (2 Chronicles 20:17). But what happened next? They still had to march forward.

This is key:

  • The miracle is God’s job; the marching is ours.
  • Faith requires action, even when we don’t see results yet.
  • Obedience comes before the breakthrough.

Many people wait for everything to make sense before they obey God. But faith means stepping forward before you see the full picture. If you’re waiting for direction during this season, I want to encourage you to take the next step God has placed in front of you. He will guide you as you go.

Challenge: Identify an area where you’ve been waiting for “everything to make sense.” Take a small step of faith today, trusting that God is leading you.

Let's Pray:
Father, I choose to trust Your promises even when I don’t see the outcome yet. Help me to step forward in faith, knowing that You are already working behind the scenes. I surrender control and choose obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I pray this encourages you during this season. You can find more of my free content here.
