Miracles and Mysteries: Matthew 8-13Sample

What would you give for something truly priceless?
In these two parables, Jesus illustrates the worth of the Kingdom of heaven. A man finds a treasure hidden in a field, and in his joy, he sells everything to buy that field. Similarly, a merchant sells everything to buy a pearl of great value. The cost of the Kingdom is everything—everything we hold dear, yet the value of gaining it far exceeds the cost.
The glory of Jesus is revealed in His authority over the Kingdom. Though it may be hidden at times, the worth of the Kingdom is incomparable. It is a treasure worth losing everything for. In this, we see Jesus not only as the one who brings this Kingdom but as the King who reigns over all. The treasures of the world are fleeting, but the treasures in Christ will never fade.
Today, ponder this: What are you willing to give up to possess the Kingdom of heaven? Is there anything too valuable to you compared to Jesus?
