Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Daily Devotional

DAY 312 OF 365

The Test I realize that this is an interesting scripture to start out a devotion on worship! But here's the context: Satan challenges God that Job would no longer worship Him if he didn't have all the amenities of life, including great wealth, health, and his large family. Satan was allowed to test Job, and Job lost each of those things. But ultimately, Job passed the test. Many folks in our church are being tested right now. Many have lost jobs, careers, and homes. Cancer and other health issues seem to be epidemic, and many have said goodbye to family members because of these diseases and other unforeseen tragedies. But then we have a night of worship, and there they are-hands raised, knees bent, voices lifted, and tears flowing freely. I'm so inspired and humbled whenever I folks who have faced such great trials worshipping with their whole being. They could have very easily gotten caught up in the "why," but instead they're caught up in the worship, allowing God to strengthen them while acknowledging His sovereignty. God never leaves us no matter the season, so let's continue to worship Him, no matter what season we're going through. Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. (1 Peter 4:12-13 NKJV) Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. (Job 1:20 NKJV) -Pastor Clay Hecocks Worship Pastor Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Satan challenges God that Job would no longer worship Him if he didn't have all the amenities of life, including great wealth, health, and his large family. Just like Job, many folks are being tested right now. They can easily get caught up in the "why," but isn't it better to get caught up in the worship, allowing God to strengthen you while acknowledging His sovereignty. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
