Dethroning King StomachSample

đż Day 2: How Appetite Leads Us Away from God's Presence
"So, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food⊠she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate." âGenesis 3:6
Hello, Friend,
Have you ever noticed how the smallest compromises can lead us the farthest away?
In the Garden of Eden, it didnât begin with violence or betrayal. It started with something so simpleâa bite.
One moment of desire.
One glance at something âgood for food.â
One choice to satisfy an appetite instead of trusting Godâs voice.
And just like that, Adam and Eve stepped out of the beauty of Godâs perfect presence and into fear, shame, and separation.
Friend, how often have we traded Godâs peace for a fleeting pleasure?
How many times have we let comfort guide us more than His Spirit?
When I reflect on my own life, I think of moments when I was weary or stressed. Instead of turning to God, I turned to what was easyâfood, entertainment, distractionsâthings that numbed me for a while. But those choices led to unhealthy patterns, even affecting my physical health.
The truth is, comfort never truly satisfies. It only masks a deeper hungerâa hunger that only God's presence can fill.
Thatâs why fasting is so powerful. It not only brings physical healing but also renews us spiritually. When we hunger and thirst for righteousness, God fills us with His peace and presence.
Fasting interrupts the cycle of feeding our cravings. Itâs a declaration: âNo, my flesh doesnât get to lead me anymore. I choose Godâs presence over temporary pleasures.â
What if today, you made a different choice?
What if you exchanged short-lived satisfaction for lasting fulfillment?
What if you hungered for His presence above all else?
I promise youâHe is ready to meet you there.
đ
Friend, can you identify any âsmall bitesâ the enemy has used to pull you away from Godâs presence?
Maybe itâs not just about food. Maybe itâs the endless scrolling, the never-ending to-do lists, or the comfort zones you cling to when life feels overwhelming.
Take a moment. Ask God to reveal anything that has quietly drawn you away from Him. Then, ask for the grace to choose Him instead.
đ Prayer
Father, open my eyes to the ways Iâve allowed comfort and cravings to lead me away from You. I donât want to be ruled by desires that pull me from Your presence. Restore my hunger for You. Teach me to crave what truly satisfiesâYour love, Your peace, Your voice. Today, I choose You above all else. Amen.
đ Friend, as you say ânoâ to the temporary, you are making room for the eternal. God is drawing you closer every single day. Keep goingâyouâre doing great, and you are a miracle!
