Attached to the Father - the Devotional for DadsSample

Repairing the Bond
No parent is perfect—we all stumble. But the best parents aren’t flawless; they’re the ones who repair what’s broken. God models this for us, always ready to forgive and restore us when we pull away. In family life, pain or misunderstanding can weaken attachment, but saying sorry and showing up differently can heal it. This can be a big challenge for fathers, because in our strength, we can often cause pain, or shame, without intention. To lead well at home we need to lean into what's broken and repair it — but we also need to turn up different in the future. Children are very forgiving, but if we don't change, trust will be broken.
What does your leadership feel like at home? How do you need to turn up different? If you asked your family to describe your presence, what words would they use?
Grab a journal and make some notes. Ask the Holy Spirit to council you. Trust God to equip you with what's needed to stay well attached to your children.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for forgiving me and repairing our bond. Give me the humility to say sorry and the strength to change where I’ve hurt others. Help me build a home where attachment grows through Your love. Amen.
