Love: The Greatest of AllSample

Love: The Greatest of All

DAY 5 OF 10

Love Doesn’t Do That

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
-1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

Love is Not Jealous or Boastful or Proud or Rude

Love does not make it about us. We are all tempted to make everything about us, and we sometimes fall into this trap. When we see it, the most important thing to do is make the adjustments, not to stay there. When you find yourself in that situation, do not defend your action with intention. Own it, adjust, and move forward.

Love Does Not Demand Its Own Way

We sometimes use the Bible to defend having things our own way. Once again, I speak from experience. The thing about having our way is that sometimes we are wrong! We are not perfect. However, sometimes we allow the feeling of “having our way” to win over the best action for the situation. When in a disagreement, do what love would do. The relationship is more important than being right.

Love Is Not Irritable and Keeps No Record of Being Wronged

I love how these two go together. Love is not easily angered. It keeps no record of being wronged. The best way to become irritable is to count how you have been wronged continually. If you do that constantly, you will have the shortest fuse ever. We have all wronged other people, so let us extend the same grace to others when we are wrong.

Love Does Not Rejoice About Injustice; Love Rejoices When Truth Wins Out

Love wants the truth to prevail. It is not loving to enjoy someone else's misery. Love puts yourself in their shoes and looks at things from another perspective. No matter what the truth is, that is what love does. In times like these, make sure you are walking in love with everyone!

Confession Today

“Love is neither jealous nor boastful, so I will not be either. Love does not demand its way, so I will not either. Love is not irritable and does not keep a record of being wronged, so I will not either. Love rejoices in truth, so I will rejoice in truth. Whenever I find myself doing something love wouldn’t do, I will ask God to help me make every adjustment I need. Love never fails.”

Day 4Day 6

About this Plan

Love: The Greatest of All

At the end of 1 Corinthians 13, Paul ends the chapter by saying that faith, hope, and love are all important, but LOVE takes the cake! God wants love to be our calling card. Love is the difference-maker. God is pleased with my faith, but people are moved by love. Over the next few days, let’s see what LOVE looks like and how we should treat people.
