The Good News and the Bad NewsSample

What is Salvation?
Take a moment to think about what words come to mind when you hear the word, "salvation."
We hear the word thrown around a lot and mostly in a positive sense, but has anyone ever commented on your salvation in relation to something you do or don’t do? But what is salvation, who can experience it and what can we do to get it?
It is a pretty important – I dare say, infinitely important – thing to think about.
Let’s start with the dictionary definition of salvation.
+ Preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss.
+ Deliverance from sin and its consequences.
Maybe some of the words that came to your mind earlier were redemption, deliverance, rescue, life, saved.
They are all pretty comforting words, right? And since God is the giver of life, it makes sense that only He can save it too.
Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
That really takes some pressure off as it means that salvation is NOT something we have to buy, not only for certain people, not temporary, and so on. In fact, it is a gift! But we will get more into that later.
A nice way to put it is this:
Salvation IS by grace alone, through faith alone, to the glory of God alone.
Choose a word that you pondered earlier, or it can even be the word salvation, and write it on your hand. As you go through today, think about what it means to be saved and what that means to you.
